Catching Up With The Prices

10th August, 2018

We're dedicating a section of our monthly newsletters to the people who help make Highclere what it is today, the shareowners! And to kick things off we headed south of the border to Melbourne to catch up with long term share owners Dennis & Carrie Price.

You may be forgiven for recognising Dr Dennis Price. Quite famous in his own right. You'll find it difficult to walk alongside him without being noticed or approached by a stroller wheeling mother or father showing off the progress of their children. And for good reason, as he's probably responsible for the safe delivery of half the population of South-East Melbourne. Obstetrician by day, and dedicated sports fan through most of the nights when on call. Dennis' love of late night sports and racing in the UK persuaded him to look into getting more involved when his son James suggested he look into Highclere syndicates (thank you James!) and fortunately for us the rest is history. Past horses include Wrangler, Stampede and, more recently, the promising Camber in the UK as well as Highclere Australia syndicates which include their grand old stayer Libran.

Very much a team, Carrie is the decision maker of this formidable duo and rightly so with the legal background as a solicitor and practice manager in Melbourne. Busy lives aside, the Prices are making the most of their Highclere experience, being regular visitors to stable visits and races (both Melbourne and Sydney) to see their horses in action. And this year we were fortunate to welcome them along to Royal Ascot to enjoy some of Highclere's hospitality at the Royal Meeting.

The team are no strangers to the horse racing world with Dennis' son James Price managing Woodside Park's commercial operations with stallions Written Tycoon, Rich Enuff, Tosen Stardom and Highclere Stud's shuttle stallion, Cable Bay.

We're looking forward to sharing more memories with the Price's in the future, both here and in the UK, particularly now heading towards the Melbourne Spring as we prepare for another Melbourne Cup campaign with Libran!
