HIGHCLERE RACING'S WEEKLY NEWS

15/9/22
It’s been a very exciting week for Highclere Australia. On Saturday Great House ran a super race at Flemington, he came from back in the field to finish strong and run 3rd. The 1700m is short of his best and he was running down horses with less weight than him. Brett Prebble rode and was very impressed with the run and is looking forward to his future. What is even more exciting is when the weights came out for the Melbourne Cup, it looked like he should gain a start in the race once again. He will most likely contest the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington on the 1st of October.
Our other runner on the weekend was Olympic Theatre who ran 6th in the Dubbo Cup. Although it doesn’t sound that good, he didn’t have any luck in running and arguably should’ve won had he got clear running. He has come back in terrific order and the stable was very pleased with the run so it is onwards and upwards to the Bathurst Cup and hopefully, he can win his way into the $2Million Big Dance at Randwick on the 1st Tuesday in November.
Korolev made his debut for the Ciaron Maher Racing stable yesterday at Sandown. It was a pleasing debut, he began well and it looks like a nice form race. He will take good benefit from the ran and we look forward to seeing him as he gets out over a longer staying trip, which jockey Mark Zahra agreed with.
In the Bjorn Baker stable, Armageddon has gone for a spell. After 2 terrific trials, it was decided to give him a rest now and return for the Autumn. He has shown a lot of promise so we are sure his owners will be rewarded for their patience. Highland Cathedral has returned to work after a spell. She also showed a lot of promise in her first preparation and would’ve derived good benefit from her spell.
This week we look forward to Durston running tomorrow, he was terrific in the Wyong Cup and James McDonald sticks with him again in the Newcastle Cup where he has drawn the inside gate. Bartholomeu Dias has worked well and we look forward to seeing him run next Saturday in the Toowoomba Cup.
A very busy time but a very exciting time. Make sure you keep an eye on our socials so you don’t miss any of the action.
