HIGHCLERE WEEKLY NEWS

20/12/22
We are sure we are not the only ones that think this year has flown. It has been a whirlwind of emotions for the Highclere Australia team but none other than the Spring Carnival. With Durston winning the Wyong and Newcastle Cups in fine style it then came to a nail-biting Caulfield Cup morning as up until the morning of the race he was the first emergency and had not gained a start. Lucky one scratching came through in time and enabled him to run, the rain kept away and the track was the perfect condition for him and then they say the rest is history. From not being in the field to winning the Caulfield Cup in 12 hours certainly sums up racing. Unfortunately, the fairytale wasn’t to continue with him being ruled out of running in the Melbourne Cup only days out from the big race. The day was turned around with stable stalwart, Bartholomeu Dias showing exactly how much he loves 1800m by taking out the Listed Furphy Plate for Annabel Neasham and giving Harry and the Highclere team a great thrill of winning a race on the big day.
Durston was certainly the key player of the year but Bartholomeu Dias wasn’t going to be left behind, he has found a new lease on life and we can’t see what else he has up his sleeve in the Autumn.
As the year draws to a close and this is our last weekly news for the year we hope all Highclere owners and fans have a very Merry Christmas. We thank you for your ongoing support and can’t wait to share a successful 2023.
In 2023 we can’t wait to see the unraced, Armageddon and Hint of Stars on the racetrack and also see what the Highland Reel Filly, Highland Cathedral, can do as she gets out over more distance. Durston is already back in work and ready to target the Autumn, we can’t wait to see him back in action!
If you are still looking for a last-minute Christmas gift we do still have a few shares floating around in various horses so make sure you head to www.highclereracing.com.au or email info@highclereracing.com.au for more information.
