HIGHCLERE WEEKLY NEWS

21/8/23
With only a few horses running at the moment, there isn’t too much to report but in saying that we do have a lot to look forward to. Olympic Theatre was meant to run on Saturday but unfortunately was a late scratching, but he is well and may head to Rosehill on Saturday. Highland Cathedral put in a terrific effort to run 2nd last start and really seems to be improving, hopefully, that can continue into her next run later this week or early next week and the Annabel Neasham stable has elected to give Bartholomeu Dias an extra week and to continue to run him over the 2200m distance. He is working well and it would be lovely to see one more win for the old boy.
Although a little quieter on the track there is certainly a lot happening off the track. Great House and Durston continue to be coming along well and Naval College will be back in work before we know it. He has spelled very well so we can’t wait to have these 3 boys back in action.
You may have been on our social media but it is very exciting to have Durston nominated for the NSW Stayer of the Year award with the winner announced on the 31st of August. The other finalists for this category are, Arapaho who is trained by Bjorn Baker and winner of the Group 1 Tancred and the Listed Canberra Cup and Surefire trained by Chris Waller and winner of the Group 2 Chairman's. Fingers crossed the Caulfield Cup winner can take out the award.
I know we have been teasing it for some time but our exciting announcement is coming so make sure you stay tuned for all the information.
