HIGHCLERE RACING’S WEEKLY NEWS

24/7/23
It has been a quiet week at Highclere Racing Australia but as we all know you should be careful what you wish for because this week certainly won’t be dull.
Tomorrow we have Korolev heading to Pakenham to run on the synthetic surface. After suffering from a few bad barriers of late, we were pleased to see him draw barrier 1 and hope that will help bridge the gap and get him into the winner's circle. He has been racing well but it would be great to see another win on the board for this son of Pariah.
Wednesday, last start winner, Olympic Theatre flies the flag for the team at Canterbury Park. He has also drawn well in barrier 4 and will appreciate the step up to 1900m. He was terrific winning off a long break last start so hopefully, with the good draw and extra distance, he can make it back-to-back wins.
And why stop there, Thursday see’s the daughter of Highland Reel, Highland Cathedral return to the track at Kembla Grange under a new trainer in Annabel Neasham, (previously with Bjorn Baker). She has been working really well and impressed in her recent trial. The fields won’t be out until tomorrow but fingers crossed for a nice kickoff run for the filly. She has always looked like she will get over a bit of distance so whatever happens there will be room for improvement.
In other exciting news, Great House has returned to pre-training, all appears well with him so we are pleased to have him back in work. The same goes for Durston, Unfortunately with the wet weather in Melbourne he did suffer an abscess, which is very common, but it did set him back a couple of weeks, but the important thing is that his tendon looks to have healed well and we couldn’t be more pleased with him. Lee Evison has done an amazing job with his rehabilitation and we can’t wait to have him back.
Bartholomeu Dias looked a little disappointing on face value at his last run but weighing everything up it may not have been as bad as it first appeared. He will head back up to Eagle Farm where he has had so much success to run on the 5th or 12th of August. He isn’t getting any younger but he is loving his work so hopefully, there is one more win for the old boy before retirement.
We have some exciting news coming next month so make sure you keep an eye on our socials for this announcement. We will also be continuing to follow the journey of our Off The Track stars and keep you up to date on all the Highclere runners and results.
