HIGHCLERE RACING’S WEEKLY NEWS

25/1/2023
Armageddon made his debut for Highclere Racing Australia yesterday at Bathurst. He has taken a little while to mature and was very green on debut but managed to hold on to 3rd and looks to have a lot of improvement to come from the outing.
Hint of Stars also lined up this week at Moonee Valley on Saturday but unfortunately, it didn’t go to plan and although it didn’t look very good, when looking at the sectionals he actually recorded the fastest final furlong of any horse in the race and he also recorded the third fastest 200m split of any horse at any point during the race. Hopefully next start we can see a form turnaround. There is also a term, second up syndrome, whereby horses can be a little flat at their second start, especially after a long time off the racing scene, which could have also contributed to the run.
Highland Cathedral is all due to head to Newcastle this Saturday, hopefully, a bigger track will bring her a little more luck. She shows a lot of talent but a few things haven’t gone her way. Saturday’s race may be a touch too short for her still but Bjorn will look to step her out in trip in the coming runs, but an improved run on Saturday is what we are hoping for.
Olympic Theatre has been back in work for just over a week now and is doing really well. The hard tracks weren’t to his liking and given Sydney is known for its wet Autumn, he should be ready to go just as the tracks are starting to turn.
Korolev is enjoying some dressage work to bring his fitness levels up. It is a great tool that a lot of trainers are using. It gives the horse a different environment to the training track but builds muscle and fitness as well, making them use their bodies in ways that traditional track work doesn’t. It is a great discipline to start off their preparation so we look forward to seeing him progress.
Durston is back on track as well and ready for a jumpout at Warwick Farm on Monday then onto the Autumn Carnival with the view of him kicking off the preparation on 11th February.
Great House is also back in work and enjoying his pre-training work as he looks to the Autumn as well, while Bartholomeu Dias will be looking to race over the Queensland Carnival so is enjoying a little more time out in the spelling paddock.
It is certainly all happening at Highclere Racing Australia so make sure you keep an eye on our socials so you don’t miss a thing!
