HIGHCLERE WEEKLY NEWS

28/4/23
It has been an emotional week for racing with the passing of Jockey Dean Holland. Highclere Racing Australia would like to pass on their deepest condolences to his family, friends and racing community.
On a much more positive note, UK import Naval College made his Australian debut at Randwick on the Kensington circuit where he finished 2nd to Storm King. It was an unlucky run as he was held up at a crucial time but once he got out he hit the line well and showed a terrific turn of foot.
He looks to have a very nice future here in Australia which is fantastic for his connections.
Great House continues to please the Chris Waller team, he was also terrific when resuming, albeit too short for him, he hit the line very well and showed the Great House of old looks to have returned, which is fantastic to see. He now heads to the Gosford Gold Cup on the 6th May.
Olympic Theatre has also come back in terrific order having his returning run at Newcastle last week. As a kick-off run it was short of his best distance but like Great House, he hit the line well and showed he has returned well and should be in for a great preparation.
Hint of Stars has also come through his run in good order, unfortunately, there are not a lot of 3000m races on the program at the moment so he may need to drop back in distance at Warrnambool on Tuesday to keep the momentum going with the preparation before hopefully stepping him out to his more preferred distance.
Bartholomeu Dias is back in action, trialling really well, he will have another trial to bring his fitness to a higher level but he pleased both Chad Schofield and the Annabel Neasham stable with the trial and also the zest he is still showing for racing. Coming off a terrific preparation over the Spring Carnival it looks like Bart is still enjoying his racing and is proving you only get better with age.
Highland Cathedral has commenced her pre-training while Armageddon continues to spell and Durston is also spelling before he will begin his second round of rehab.
All is coming well with team Highclere Australia so hopefully, we are in for a busy and successful few months.
