HIGHCLERE RACING’S WEEKLY NEWS

04/08/23
Last week was busy for the stable with 3 runners, unfortunately, Korolev performed below expectations, as did Olympic Theatre, but given his terrific performance the start prior after coming off a long break between runs he was entitled to tire out in the straight. He looks likely to head to Warwick Farm on Wednesday where he will run over 2200m. With a couple of runs under his belt, this distance should suit so we will see how he handles this next week. Highland Cathedral caps off last week's runners, she was resuming and having her first start for new trainer, Annabel Neasham. She was terrific running 3rd not beaten far and again she is a horse that looks like she will appreciate running over a longer journey but it was a very positive return for the mare.
This week we celebrated the horse's birthday. Although a lot of the Highclere horses were bred in the Northern Hemisphere as they are racing in the Southern Hemisphere are deemed to be a year older on August 1 so Happy Birthday to all our horses.
Looking forward to runners and tomorrow Bartholomeu Dias is entered for Eagle Farm, it looks like a nice race for him over a longer trip of 2200m but the stable could elect to wait instead. He continues to work well and please the stable so hopefully the extra distance is what he is looking for.
As mentioned, Olympic Theatre looks like he will line up at Warwick Farm on Wednesday and Highland Cathedral will run towards the end of next week.
Great House is currently in pre-training and coming along well as is Durston, he has had a couple of hold-ups with an abscess but the important thing is that the rehabilitation has gone well and Chris Waller is already looking forward to races for him but nothing is set for his return until he is further into his preparation.
Naval College continues to spell well but with how quickly the year is passing it won’t be long before he is back in action as well.
Last week we hinted that something exciting is coming to Highclere Racing Australia, that is still the case but we are going to keep you in suspense a little longer so you will have to keep an eye on our socials so you don’t miss the big announcement.
