HIGHCLERE RACING’S WEEKLY NEWS

6/10/22
What a terrific weekend it was for Highclere Racing Australia to have 2 horses in Group 1 races on the same day. Although luck was slightly against them with Great House drawing poorly and the rain arriving in Sydney making the track too heavy for Durston, both horses performed well.
Great House had the second fastest last 600m of the day at Flemington and Durston didn’t handle the track but still managed to dig deep and run 6th, beaten just over a length. We were so proud of both horses, unfortunately neither are guaranteed a run in the Caulfield Cup, but it is still firmly on the mind of trainer Chris Waller. Surely the luck has to turn around soon. Either way, there are backup options for both horses across the Spring Racing Carnival.
We will soon see Korolev back at the races as he posts an acceptance for Ballarat on Friday, but is also nominated in various other options. He gave Mark Zahra, who rode him on debut, the feeling he would appreciate the longer distance so we are excited to see him as he progresses out over that journey.
Olympic Theatre has unfortunately been washed out of a few options but we are hoping for a nice track at Port Macquarie on Friday, where he is in the Port Macquarie Cup. A win in this race will get him into the “Big Dance”!
Armageddon is enjoying his time in the paddock while our other Bjorn Baker trained horse, Highland Cathedral is back in work. She showed a lot of promise last preparation so we look forward to seeing her return later this year.
Bartholomeu Dias is enjoying a little freshen, he always races better with his runs spaced, especially being an older horse. He is also hoping the rain in Sydney will slow down at some point to open up a few options for him.
As you can see it is all stations go at Highclere and it looks like a very exciting few months ahead.
