Four wins for the month of July from three horses is a fantastic result for Highclere shareowners.
Lord Belvedere followed up his win in June with another win in July at Flemington, he is now having a well-earned break, although only a short break, he will be back in a few weeks to prepare for his Spring campaign.
The Ciaron Maher stable have the Melbourne Cup ballot exempt race, the Group 3 Bart Cummings in mind for Lord Belvedere with a direct route into the Cup. The most recent Bart Cummings & Melbourne Cup winning double was achieved by Almandin in 2016.
Contango broke his maiden at Muswellbrook with a beautiful ride by Mitchell Bell, and no doubt assisted by the move to the quiet training environment at Scone and the patient training regime put in place by Paul Messara.
Edison hit it out of the park this month with thrilling back to back wins on heavy tracks, giving us all a huge boost from the Covid doldrums. It wasn't an easy decision to race him on ground that he does not like, but the results are proof that he is a serious racehorse now and there is more to come once he gets the opportunity to race on good track surfaces. Edison will have a proper spell for the remainder of Winter and will be back in preparation for a Summer campaign and possibly another trip to the Gold Coast for a tilt at the restricted Magic Millions Rising Stars Class 4 Plate over 1400m in January 2021.
